SLOTD for 2009-02-02

Beginning to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind

Correct answer: Drift Away, Dobie Gray, but covered by a crapload of other artists. Since I wasn't more specific, I'll take 'em all.

Yes but do you intend the Dobie Gray version or the Dobie Gray and Uncle Kracker version?

The song is "Drift Away"; I think it's sung by the Doobie Brothers (I could be wrong about that).

"Drift Away" by Dobie Gray

Because that's the version *I* grew up with. :)

"Drift Away", originally penned by Mentor Williams and recorded by John Henry Kurtz, but popularized by an enormous list of artists the world over.

"Drift Away" by the great Dobie Grey who also sang on the remake with Uncle Kracker.
