Hump Day! (sorta)
Jan. 4th, 2007 12:42 pmYes, it's Thursday. Traditionally, Wednesday is "Hump Day" but if one considers that this is the middle day of my 3 day week, then today is the hump of my week. So, hump day.
Wow. Did I really expend that much thought in defending that?
ANYWAY!
Here I am. Sitting in front of a computer, typing out this LJ entry. And I'm not sure where it's going, but it appears to be headed in the direction of "Disjointed & Surreal". Well, hang on and let's see where we end up.
So, it's been a few days since last I posted, and there's been some stuff that happened.
Oh wait! Administrivia! Welcome to
coolerking!
Take, for example, the New Year's Eve/DAy Open house. We had a few people over on NYE, notably
theimp79,
bulsi,
kenalepha, and some other folks, who, AFAIK, do not have LJ's. We rang in the New year with appropriate fanfare, and then, once the merriment started to give way to sleepiness, our delightful guests left, and we headed for bed.
In the morning, we got things ready for whatever guests might find theor way to our step that day, and, once done, I fired up Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I played this for a while until the first guests showed up:
principiacoh &
byronczimmer! We were also joined by
tth,
aylinn,
millefailte, &
aynne_witch, as well as two friends of ours from college and their kids. We had a home full of people eating, talking, laughing, watching Cars & Ice Age 2, and taking in the spirit of the season. It was a wonderful day.
To those who thought they were going to make it, but didn't? Well, we know you were with us in spirit. And although you were missed, it's all good. All things happen for a reason, so we'll catch you at the next one.
Going back in time, my folks were down on Saturday to play Christmas. The only truly annoying thing about the whole damn thing is that my dad's presents were on backorder, and still haven't arrived. On the other hand, I did get a copy of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and a copy of Wierd NJ: Vol 2. (Now I just need to get Vol. 1...)
Well, the kids did well as well, setting lots of clothes and toys and stuff. But again, while I enjoyed the presents, what I really loved about the day was spending the holiday time with family. I only wish that
matt3485 &
kel_kel_82 could have been there as well. The day went all too quickly, and my folks headed out around 8, once the 'Skins game was underway.
Oh, speaking of which: Congrats to
kel_kel_82 on getting a new job! A better Christmas present couldn't be asked for, eh?
Since then, I've spent time honoring Winter-een-mas playing Civ 3 (almost have them damn Egyptians eliminated), WoW (mostly working on Gunsnbutter, a mage on Sen'Jin that I'm trying to get to high levels), and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (where I completed the game in easy mode with the default team of Spider Man, Captain America, Thor, & Wolverine - but I didn't complete all side quests nor did I find everything). Next on my list for M:UA work as the Fantastic Four. Then maybe as a group based on the Hearts of Darkness Graphic novel (which starred Wolverine, Punisher & Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch)). Have to decide who to add if I do that second one. Maybe Blade & Elektra. I'll think about it.
Oh, BTW: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance rocks. Get it.
LJ as PSA: Remember that the Brunswick Games Day (aka I wish I was at Evecon) is coming up on Saturday, Jan 6 2007. Be there or be a rhombus.
Sports Geek moment: THE PHILLY EAGLES ARE NFC EAST CHAMPS!!! YEAH BAY-BEE!!! All the way to the Super Bowl! We're on a misson!!!
Well, I've rambled enough for one day. I think they actually want me to do some work or something.
Peas. Out.
