OK, so we live in an age where corporate greed and stinginess are widely reported and lamented.

I want to tell about a company which, for whatever faults it may have, has made me a customer.

My Uncle Tom's viewing was today. When he passed, he worked as a store manager for Modell's Sporting Goods, which, at the very least, is a chain that spans the Northeast US, if not the country.

One of the Vice Presidents of the company called my aunt the other day. Modells was going to hire temps for tonight so that any employee who wanted to attend the viewing could do so. They said to expect 50-75 people from Modell's to attend.

This is, in my mind, not only a testament to the kind of respect people had for my Uncle, but the fact that they would go to such lengths is nothing short of amazing.

I always liked Modell's as a store. Now, I am a lifelong customer.
