Monday, how I love thee...
Dec. 17th, 2007 06:29 pmWell, the last 24-30 hours have been kind of a blur.
Who knew?
First, my thanks to everyone for their magnificent display of effusion...
Hooray for Captain Spaulding, The African explorer.
NOW CUT THAT OUT!
Seriously, it means a lot to
mousecat0 & I. Thank you.
mousecat0 was running an errand when she got the news. Thankfully, she wasn't driving. Since yesterday was also F.'s birthday, the plan was to put up the Christmas tree, then go to dinner at B&D's Mongolian Grill around 4, with my mother in law, my sister in law, her son, his SO, and their kid.
When I talked about it with people, the thought was that Dad would not have wanted us to cancel the birthday proceedings for his grandson. I told everyone that we would check in around 3:30 or so, but that it was likely that at least
mousecat0, B, F, & I would go out for dinner. Anyone else who wanted to join us was welcome.
And then we decorated the tree. We have a 6' artificial tree that we've had for about 6 years now. It's showing it's age, though. I think we need to replace it after this year. Branches are starting to fall off. And, we're running out of tree before we're running out of ornaments!
After a quick phone call with the rest of the family, who said they would join us, off we went to B&D's, where F. made a valiant attempt at eating his body weight in shrimp and tofu. He got some clothes, some Transformers, Superman/Doomsday the movie, and a 12" Green Arrow figure.
All of this, I think, was a welcomed (and much needed) distraction for everyone.
Tomorrow, B is in a choral concert. Looking forward to this as well.
Ok, to answer the question: Everyone is doing as well as can be expected.
mousecat0 stayed home from work today. I came in because she pretty much shooed me out. In all fairness, I am all but ready to test the one baseline image, another two are ready to be given to the Govt for testing, and the fourth is waiting on the hardware for me to test it. I'd like to get these done ASAP so that I don't have to worry about them the rest of the week.
I'll be coming in for a 1/2 day tomorrow. There's a meeting with the funeral home tomorrow afternoon that I'm wanted at. As I have information, I'll pass it on.
