Gentle reader, I give you the following article for your perusal:

There Is No Gas Shortage by Ed Wallace.

It would seem to be yet more evidence that the government is not interested in doing what is best for the people, but rather for the corporations.

Growing up, I learned a good deal about American history. I learned to know and respect the following words:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.".

How can one honestly justify the actions of not only this administration, or any administration going at least as far back as Nixon, as being in line with the vision so eloquently put forth by our founding fathers? Justice? General welfare? Tranquility? Where are they?

Our founding fathers must be watching us from the other side and weeping.

How much more will it take, America? How much more will we allow to be taken from ourselves and our children? How much more until we rise up as one and say "Enough" and take back our lives, our futures, our country from the greedy and unscrupulous?

How much?
Due to inadequate perusal on my part before leaving home, I was not able to eat the leftovers I brought in for lunch as they had started to become a cure for penicillin. Fortunately, I had a bag of Barcelona's Cranberry Nut mix, which is an acceptable lunch.

While looking at the package, I noticed a few things about the labels. The first one struck me as sad - that on the back, it was somehow necessary, from a company called the Barcelona Nut Company, to have the following warning: Packaged in a facility that processes Peanuts and Tree Nuts. I understand that some folks have allergy issues, but this is freaking sad and stupid.

Now, the front label reads "Always fresh! Always Good!" This struck me as silly because the fruits contained within are dried fruits - raisins, dried cranberries, pineapples, dates, etc. While tasty, not what I would consider "fresh".

To push this over into the surreal, we now look at the stamp on this "Always Fresh" product - which proclaims that it is "Best By 010709".

Yeah, because the damn things are going to be *so* fresh after nearly a year...
