So, many of the people who read this are familiar with Callahan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson and, along with that, Callahan's Law (also known as the Law of Conservation of Pain and Joy): "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased — thus do we refute entropy."

So, step up to the chalk line with your drink of choice and make your toast.

Here's to the Scots, who keep the sabbath--and everything else they can get their hands on.
Here's to the Welsh, who pray on their knees--and on their neighbors.
Here's to the Irish, who don't know what they want, but are willing to fight for it anyway.
Here's to the English, who consider themselves self-made men, thereby relieving the almighty of a terrible burden.
