Yeah, I lost track again. Go me. :rolls eyes:

To be fair, I have been busy since last I wrote here. Like, wrote for real.

How busy? Well, I'll detail that...

Nothing like random phrases... ;-)

Hi folks. Sorry about Monday's entry. I had been working on it in spurts throughout the day, and it alllll went to shit when we found out about [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0's stuff being stolen.

And I suppose that's where I'll start.

For those who don't know, my lovely wife is a commercial property manager. She was at her primary site, where her office is located. More to the point, her office is in a suite of offices in the building, all used by the management company she works for. Around 1430 hours, she went to go check on something, leaving her cellphones (personal & work) on her desk, and her bag (with her wallet in it) behind & under her desk. When she returned 20 or so minutes later, they were all gone. Credit cards, driver's license, checkbook - all gone. After a frantic search of the suite did not turn it up, she began the annoying and tedious process of getting everything canceled.

The next morning, [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 planned to go to MD MVA to get a replacement license. She was in the shower when her boss called. Her wallet had been found in the men's room, and they could confirm that her driver's license was in it. She headed off to work and was able to confirm that everything was there - nothing stolen. She didn't have any cash in the bag, so that was a non-issue. Also seems that someone had lifted the site engineers keys from his desk, as they were found elsewhere in another men's room.

Net loss so far as can be told: 2 cell phones. We got off light.

Lessee, what else has happened since last I talked to you?

Went camping with my son and his Cub Scout pack. The Robert C. McDonell Campground (part of Cabin John Regional Park) is maybe 5 minutes from home. Nice enough place. The kids had a blast, the adults had fun watching the kids. The only thing that annoyed me was the rain at 0300 on Sunday.

Last weekend was a little busier, as we had a birthday party to attend for the daughter of some friends, then getting things together for Mother's Day (menu posted here). Oh yeah, and I had to buy tires for my car.

Oh the cars. Which always know when you have $$$. Godblessit. [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0's car need about $1500 worth of work, mine needed about $400 in tires. Together, that makes us flat-assed broke.

Didn't play much WoW in the last 2 weeks. Played enough to get my Children's Week achievement (and be annoyed by all the whining in battlegrounds by the hardcore battleground gamers when those of us there only for the achievements came in) and my Oh My, Kurenai achievement. Just need to finish off Sporeggar rep for my Diplomat title. Hopefully do some raiding this week as well.

Not too much else of late. Will be in NJ on Memorial Day weekend for the annual family BBQ. Got a Barking Mad meeting this weekend as well. Kids have birthday parties to go to. I'm just gonna try and keep my shit together. ;-)

I'll be posting recipes shortly. I'll even post the one that we didn't like so much; may be you will.

I remind you all to have a good day. The very fact that you woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning makes it a great start to a good day.
So much for my posting more, eh? Ah well. In my defense, I was busy last week at work, and busy when I came home. Barely able to keep up with reading stuff, let alone posting.

OK, so where did I leave off? OK, about 2 weeks ago.
This may get long )
I like random....

So, welcome to the start of another glor-ee-ous work week. OK, so it's half way through the start, but what the hell. My blog, my rules, I win.

I think that's all for now.

Remember: You woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that makes this a good day.

Peas. Out.
And remember that worrying about H1N1 will do more to shorten your lifespan than the actual flu will.

Hey, happy Friday Eve Day! Hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing reasonably well this morning. A little sleepy, but that's in large part because I haven't gone to sleep before 1 am either of the last two nights. Oh, it's all my own damn fault, so no sympathy requested or required, just explaining where I'm at.

So, how about a quick bullet list o' doom!

  • Administrivia: Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] hopefulspirit & [livejournal.com profile] ruaalien2 who found me through a friending frenzy held on [livejournal.com profile] hopefulspirit's LJ. Pull up a chair and help yourself to somethin' to drink. I generally suggest that people read this post if they want to know more about me.
  • Family: [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 is still trying to kick her cough. She's spending the next 4 work days at one of the buildings she manages overseeing some work being done. Words can't express how thrilled she is. Kids still enjoying school, but not homework. We're all a little disappointed by the turnaround in the forecasted weather for the weekend, but figure that it happened specifically because we canceled our plans. That's ok, because we have other...
  • Weekend plans: Friday night is F.'s first Cub Scout Pack Meeting, which is also a picnic being held at one of the local parks. Saturday, we'll do a bit of cleaning, then some shopping for fall/halloween decor and some other organizational stuff. On the way home, we'll get some pizza and then make a movie night out of it. Probably start with Jason and the Argonauts and go from there. Sunday, F & I are helping staff a table to recruit more cub scouts around 10:45 am, then we'll head up to [livejournal.com profile] stoooooooo & [livejournal.com profile] ginabeth's for football. Speaking of which...
  • Football: Ah yes, the season has started. And not one week into the season, and my beloved Philadelphia Eagles are already in a bind. Yeah, we beat the Carolina Panthers, but our franchise QB, Donovan McNabb, got hurt. And with Vick suspended for at least one more week, it's no wonder that the team signed Jeff Garcia. They had to. They needed someone to back up Kevin Kolb. Whatever. I don't have much hope that they will beat the New Orleans Saints, but we shall see. In other football news and thoughts:
    • I think that the loss of Brian Urlacher will have a bigger effect on the Chicago Bears defense than the loss of Troy Polamalu (doo doo dedoo doo) will on the Pittsburgh Steelers Defense.
    • Anyone who didn't see this coming from T.O., raise your hand. ::looks:: Yeah, that's what I thought. No hands.
    • Looking at the weeks games, I don't see many compelling ones:
      • Steelers at Bears: Good defense on both sides; expect this to be a defensive struggle
      • Raiders at Chiefs: This could decide who ends up last in the NFL
      • Vikings at Lions: How will rookie Matt Stafford do against an actual defense?
      • Patriots at Jets: Same thing, substitute Mark Sanchez for Stafford.
  • Gaming: Played some WoW over the last two nights. Some guild drama occurred in my absence. Otherwise, I still seem to be able to play my Retadin well.
  • It seems that an fair number of you want me to perform experiments on myself in the name of "Science". Fine. So be it. The orders for the Dungeons & Dragons Soda and the M:tG soda are placed. Anyone want to help with the testing?
  • X-Entertainment has begun their annual Halloween Countdown!!! Check it out for all kinds of Halloween Fun!
  • Speaking of Holidays, I'm starting to collect recipes that sound interesting for use with Thanksgiving dinner. I need to test them before then. Maybe I should do a bunch and invite people for tastings...
OK, I think that's all for now. I need to go change out backup tapes.

Remember: You woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that makes this a good day.

Peas. Out.
Short version: A good weekend, all around.
Longer version behind cut )
OK, that's about it for now.

Remember: You woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that makes this a good day.

Peas. Out.
Y'know, I haven't posted in for-frickin'-ever.

At least, not a real post.

So, to reassure folks, no, I'm not dead. Just been busy and stuff.

Here's a quick bullet list of doom:

  • Me: Doing well. Health is decent, life is decent, things are decent. Except my mind. That hasn't been decent in years.
  • Family: Also doing well. [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 will be employed as of June 1. The company she temped for last fall (Royco) has offered her a position as a property manager. Money is a little more than I make now. This job is why she's been taking the real estate class which has been melting her brain. Kids are doing pretty well as well. Still involved in Scouts, although we will be looking for a new troop for B. The one she's in now is absolutely willing to have her, but since the vast majority (read: all but one or two) of the girls are from her old school (DeChantal), they tend to be very school-centric, ie almost all activities and meetings are planned around their school schedule. Not that they don't try to be inclusive, because they do...but still, they sometimes don't make it. What's more, B. is being ostracized/excluded/ignored more and more. She really felt it when they were trying to put their skit together for the Green & Gold dinner, where she felt that they just ignored her suggestions altogether. To me, this is not a reflection on the troop - almost all of the girls see each other every day; the bonds between them are bound to grow stronger. I think if they were from a larger mix of schools, this would be less of an issue. F. participated in his first Pinewood Derby race this past weekend. I'll try to get pics up later today. Short version is that he placed first in his first heat, and 3rd in each of the other 3 heats. Not bad for the first time out.
  • Job: Hopefully good news later.
  • Sleepover: B.'s birthday sleepover went well. 3 of the 4 kids invited showed up. They played, ate pizza, watched Kim Possible and Sky High, and generally had fun until they passed out before midnight. Fed 'em waffles in the morning, then they went out to run off some steam down at the playground area with [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 keeping an eye on them. Generally speaking, F. was good and left the girls alone. While they went running around, we stayed home - where it was safe. Around noon, I got sammitches from Subway for everyone, and by 3 pm, everyone had gone home. Everyone enjoyed themselves.

That's about all I got at the moment. I'll TTYL.
