...or "How to zombify oneself in 3 easy days"
Welcome to Tuesday, gentle reader. For those of us who work in the gov't sector, it's effectively Monday. Which means I have a 4 day week followed by a 3 day week. Oh joy! Oh rapture! Oh fuhgeddaboutit...
I suppose I'll put this behind cuts because it might get long.
Me: I am, well, blah. We're having some weird weather here in the DC area, with temps going up and down (example: Right now its 53 and rainy. Projected high of 62. Tomorrow: High of 67. Thurs: High of 53). This causes my sinuses to go haywire. Combine that with my coming off of the cold the kids brought home, and you have the recipe for an icky-feeling me. I should be OK in a few days, especially with the liberal application of DayQuil.
Dad: OK, so we found out on Saturday that it wasn't Pneumonia, but rather Gall stones. We suspect the miscommunication comes from my mother-in-law, but I digress. They took care of them on Saturday, but due to a concern regarding infection, they want to remove his gall bladder. Said operation to occur sometime today. More information as it becomes available.
Friday Night: Once I got home Friday night,
mousecat0 was looking and feeling beat, so I sent her to bed and took the kids out to Cici's Pizza for dinner. Once we got home, I gave the kids their medications and sent them to bed. I then rearranged the dining room and started painting. I got the first coat on everything, cleaned my tools, and collapsed into bed.
Saturday: B. had a nature hike with her Junior Girl Scout Troop on Saturday. Originally,
mousecat0 was going to go, but she still felt like hell, so I took B. over to the meeting point. I stopped on the way back for coffee. By the time I got there, Dad was there. We took stock of what we had, then headed out to get rid of a bunch of stuff to Goodwill, then to Lowe's for some supplies. Once home again, we replaced all the power outlets in the dining room, then started painting. We got everything done but the rolling of the light green walls by the time we needed to pick up B. Once the pickup was accomplished, we finished the walls then went to IHOP for dinner. Dad took off, and we were left to contemplate our freshly painted dining room.
Sunday: I woke up on Sunday feeling crappy - like I had finally caught the bug that had felled the rest of the family. We started off by putting some of the dining room back together, then followed it up with brunch of toast and eggs mixed with ham, onions, red & green peppers, potatoes and cheese. Thusly fortified, we headed out to do our Thanksgiving shopping. First stop was Costco, where we bought more non-food products than food. This was expected however. One thing we did pick up that we were not expecting to was a set of 3 serving dishes. We really needed them, and for $20, well, you get the point. Once we finished there, we headed to Giant for the rest of our shopping. 2 shopping carts later (and almost $60 saved in coupons and in-store specials) we headed for home. We brought in and put away the groceries, then while
mousecat0 fixed dinner, I scrubbed the bathtub. After dinner, the kids had their showers, we put them in bed, and watched the finale of Who Will Be The Next Iron Chef. I've kinda followed it (off and on), and was curious to see who would win. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Chef Symon won. Was also very glad to hear the end of the Eagles Game when they beat the DeadRedskins.
Monday: Here's how my day started: Got up, got kids ready for school, got them on the bus, went home and went back to bed. Woke up at 11, turned over, and took a nap.
Right there, that should tell you a lot about how I felt yesterday.
The only other item of note yesterday was that we decided to rent the Rug Doctor carpet cleaner yesterday (as opposed to waiting for the weekend). Oh. My. God. The stuff that came out of the carpet was unreal. The heavy traffic areas are almost blue again. The water that we dumped out made the Delaware river look like the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.
Final note: My sympathies and prayers go out to
delazan and
phoxxe , both of whom lost their mothers recently. Know that although I may not have said much about it, you are thought of and loved in your time of sorrow. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Peas. Out.
