Welcome to Wednesday, folks. Time for the weekly bullet list of doom!
Not much else to talk about at the moment.
Remember, you woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that means it's a good day.
Peas.
Out.
- Me: Meh. Still trying to adjust to the new schedule. It'll take a week or three, based on previous experience. The bigger pain is the congestion and post-nasal drip that are causing vaguely cold-like symptoms. The body being tired and slightly ill are compounding each other, with a net effect of me feeling like ground raw ass. But, I can walk, so I'm at work. Whee!
- Family: DOing well.
mousecat0 will be at the current gig until the end of the month. I believe the temp service is aware, and had better be looking for something for her. OTOH, having her be off when the kids are off of school on Nov 3 & 4 would be cool. Kids are doing well in school and are enjoying it. B. is taking another year of violin and is participating in chorus and the school "TV station". She's in the advanced math class, and we know what her Science grade for the quarter is (A). F. is doing well as well, having brought home a number of "A" equivalents. No extracurricular activities really, because most of those are available only to the older kids.
- Saw an ad for "McCain/Palin: The Original Mavericks" and I couldn't help but wonder what James Garner would say to that.
- Work: Well, it's work. Nothing really new here. The 6 month countdown of doom is on. I put in for my vacation time for the end of the year; it appears to have been approved. This is good.
- Last weekend: Saturday was spent at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. As usual, it was a blast. We wandered around, caught bits and pieces of various shows, I played some games with F., ate some good food, and generally enjoyed ourselves. Stopped by
dreamtigress' booth; F. got an pirate eyepatch from her. Also stopped by The Bee Folks to get some different honeys for brining the turkeys later this year. More on this in another bullet. Also got the kids to sit through 2 shows: Hack & Slash & Johnny Fox. Both kids liked both shows, but B. liked H&S more, while F. liked Fox better. Then, we tried to leave. Oy Vey! What a CF! I posted about that already. Sunday was quieter.
mousecat0 and B., went to the grocery store while F & I cleaned the front patio. Then some football and good food at home.
- Unfortunate incident: So, I said we went to The Bee Folks to get some honey. This year, we got some cranberry and some...I wanna say radish. See, I don't remember because I had to LEAVE the store because someone IN the store wasn't understanding that I don't particularly CARE for the taste of honey regardless of the variety. I have no problems using it as an ingredient in my brine or in other dishes, but I don't like eating honey...I guess the term would be straight. As a result of this person being WAY too damn pushy about it, I felt myself getting to the point where I was going to be extremely rude in a place of business that I usually like and respect. So I left, and
mousecat0 finished up. Now, I understand about "good salesmanship", but there's a time when it crosses a line into being "pushy and annoying", perhaps even "proselytizing." Here's a hint for all salespeople: If someone tells you that they have tried numerous varieties of something and still don't care for it, accept that the person is not going to try the latest variety and move on. Otherwise, you may end up losing sales and having a pissed off customer. I assure you, if
mousecat0 hadn't been there, I would have left and not purchased anything.
- Football: My beloved Philly Eagles played a decent quarter of football. However, there are FOUR! FREAKING! QUARTERS! in the GAME!!! And now Westbrook has broken ribs. I think it may be time to write the season off. We shall see.
