Hey, look! It's an update!

Good morning, all. Yeah, I know it's been a while since I done updated. That's the way life has been of late. I've either not had the time or the inclination to post overmuch. But, seeing as there's ~45 minutes left for this image to finish loading to the server, and I have a cup of instant oatmeal and a mug of coffee, I figure it's as good a time as any to update.
That, I think, is all I have for the moment.
As always, I remind you that you woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that means it's a good day.
Peas.
Out.
- Administrivia: A long-overdue welcome for two more lovely people:
mountaingirl and
lyssrose. Welcome to my little corner of the web. Grab a beverage of choice, pull up a chair, and sit a spell. As always, I suggest reading this post if you want to know something about me.
- State of the 'Hawk: Generally upbeat at the moment. Hallowe'en approaches, and I'm looking forward to it. I love the looks on the kids faces and the fun of the day. I seem to have missed any stories of assholes who want to make things more difficult and ruin the day and the fun for everyone. And I'd like to keep it that way, thankyewverrahmuch. Last night was spent in Hallowe'en prep, with
mousecat0 and the kids carving the jack o'lantern and me doing quick & dirty stitching to adjust F.s "Ninja Warrior" costume (we'll work on adjusting B's tonight), all while watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on ABC.
- The family: Generally good.
mousecat0 is in the tail end of a cold. Only problem is that she hasn't been able to get the gunk to move, which periodically causes violent coughing fits. So, last night, I went out to get some Mucinex D from CVS. I hope it worked. I didn't hear her coughing when I went to bed, but then I generally sleep the sleep of the just. The kids are looking forward to Hallowe'en as well. B has a costume of "Athena, goddess of wisdom", while F, as mentioned before, is a "Ninja Warrior".
- Work: Gosh darn it all, it's still work! [eg] Not bad, not slow, too many meetings last week preventing me from getting work done. No news on the SAIC gig. Today was about the earliest I expected to hear anything, and it's still early.
- 2 weekends ago: We spent Saturday doing a bit of cleaning and not much else. F had hurt his foot rather well on the playground at school when he jumped off of something and caught his foot, hyperextending the muscles and ligaments on top of his foot. The net effect of this was that he didn't do a lot of walking that weekend. Still, I have to give him credit, because he did what he could to help pick up. Sunday, my folks came down for
mousecat0's birthday. We hung out, watched football, and chatted for awhile, then headed off to meet my mother-in-law and sister-in-law at BD's Mongolian Grill, where we ate prodigious amounts of stir-fry. Then back to our place for coffee and ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.
- Last weekend: Well, Friday afternoon came upon us, and
mousecat0 had been fighting a cold all week, and was on the upswing. So, we went up to Butler's Orchard for our pumpkin (pic to follow later when not at work), where we got a hyooge pumpkin, some boysenberry jam for
mousecat0, and some corn salsa. Our plans for Saturday got rained out, unfortunately, as we had planned to go to the Wicked Woods Haunted Trail and Kiddie Maze. However, that's all outdoors, and it was rainy and cold - not weather that's good for people fighting a cold. So, we defaulted to plan B:
mousecat0 & B. went to go see High School Musical 3, while F & I went to Target to get him a new windbreaker and to work on his Christmas list. On Sunday, I made a birthday breakfast for
mousecat0, then she & B. went to a NaNoWriMo kickoff event with my sister-in-law while F & I stayed home and watched football. That night was spent at dinner with my S-I-L & M-I-L for a birthday dinner.
- WoW: For those who don't play, the last week or more has been dominated by some world events leading up to the next expansion. Put simply: Zombie Plague. However, not only did it increase the number of undead dramatically, it increased the noise from the whiners and waaahmbulance chasers geometrically. Gods, they were annoying. For my part, I had fun, alternating between the "Noble Paladin out to help the innocent" and "Evil Undead spreading plague and pain" personas. It was an in-game event, it was fun, and people really need to stop freaking whining.
- Sports: Looking forward to seeing the Phillies finish off the Rays tonight. That game should never have freaking started on Monday, let alone gone 6.5 innings. Everyone out in the stadium will lucky to not catch pneumonia. And my beloved Eagles beat Atlanta. Need to keep that streak going!
That, I think, is all I have for the moment.
