I don't know how volunteering works, except that in order to not be treated as staff you'd need to use the word 'no' in various forms, I think. Especially since the podling arrived, I think if we do show up at Katsu, it'll be a 'wander around to see friends for an hour, check out merchants room, then bail' sort of event.
