Me, I've been busy.

So, let me drop this thing into the Bullet List of DOOM format

• Administrivia: Welcome to a_kosmos who found me from a comment I made somewhere...but I don't remember where. But it's all cool. Pull up a chair and help yourself to somethin' to drink. I generally suggest that people read this post if they want to know more about me.
  
• Me: Frazzled. It's the week before TCEP. And, as one of the people in charge, I'm trying to make sure things run reasonably smoothly. But it's also the first week back to school for the kids, which means that there's about 10 billion pieces of paper to fill out. I swear I've written on the equivalent of a small deciduous forest this week. Oh, and then work thinks it can demand some of my attention. I'm a bit fratzed, but honestly, it's all good. I enjoy doing what I do. The only truly annoying thing has been this abscess or cyst or something that developed near the armpit. It's been drained, but it still weeps a bit.
  
• The kids: They are thrilled to be back at school with their friends. B started middle school this year; F is in the same school. It remains to be seen how long this enchantment lasts. Probably until homework comes into play.
  
• mousecat0 is also doing well. Continues to enjoy her job. Sometimes gets a little fratzed as well, in part because her boss seems to not understand the concept of "weekend". I know that part of it is the nature of the business, but dude needs to stop working on the weekends.
  
• What we've been up to: Whoo. That's an interesting list.
  • Saw some old friends for beers one night at Gordon Biersch in Rockville. Tasty food and better company made for a great night.
    
  • Car got towed because I didn't put tag up after night out with friends. My fault - or maybe the 3 liters of beer's fault. Either way, I had to pay. At least I could.
    
  • Saw Great Big Sea at Wolftrap. The down side of things is that it rained during the opening act. At least we had umbrellas and chairs. Awesome, awesome show. So glad we went.
    
  • Fantasy Football: 3 drafts so far, 2 to go. I like my drafts in the family league and in matt3485's league; my draft in usethe4sluke's draft - not so much. Draft day at stoooooooo and ginabeth's was awesome. Had a blast seeing everyone. Plenty of football, cake, good food and beer.
    
  • Went to see GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra with F. Not a bad movie. I've certainly watched worse. We both had a good time.
    
  • Had to line up a plumber and a drywall contractor to deal with the leaky tub. Servicemagic.com was great in helping us with that.
    
  • Spent some time last night watching Happy Days reunion special, followed by Laverne & Shirley reunion special followed by the Biography on Love Boat. Aaaaaand straight back to my childhood. ;-)
  
  
• Gaming: Yeah. Hasn't happened. Haven't played WoW at all, but I did go ahead and get the lifetime subscription to Champions Online. Messed around with it for about 10 min last night.
  
• TCEP: Have I mentioned that TCEP 16 is this weekend? And that we'd love to see you there?
  
• Tomorrow is Back to School night at the Middle school. Oh Joy.
  
• Recently read Neil Gaiman's Coraline and Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar Book 1: Swords & Deviltry. Next on the pile are Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar Book 2: Swords Against Death and ninjacooter's It Never Ends. Not that I'm gonna have time for them until next week.
