This should start, as many convention reports do, on Thursday…

Thursday night: It had been my intent to start loading the cars on Wednesday night. However, my knee locked up on me as we were at Target (to the point that I nearly collapsed), and so, the matter was decided for me. As we finished dinner Thursday night, we received a call from [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00, who was on his way over to pick up some Munchkin goodies that I had for him. We ended up talking for awhile about this, that, and the other thing, until he felt the deep stirring of responsibility within him (I suggested it was the chili & tamales he had for lunch that he was feeling, but he was most insistent that it was responsibility) and headed for home to start getting things together for Bronx_baroness’ coronation.

Once he left, [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 & I loaded the cars. Well, not completely. Things like pillows & toiletries would be loaded at the last minute on Friday. But that’s ok.

Friday: As I work close to the hotel where the convention is held, I decided to put in a full day and then go directly to the hotel. This turned out to be fortunate, as it was discovered at the hotel that in all our (and by “our”, I mean the con staph) hustle and bustle to get ready, we had completely forgotten to print badges! ARGH! Fortunately, I had the badges from TCEP 13 still saved on my computer at work, so I dropped the files onto my flash drive and launched myself out the door at 1800 hrs. Miraculously, traffic decided to comply with my wishes and I was at the hotel around 1830 hrs. [livejournal.com profile] killernurd was already there, and had brought and set up the shelves in the gaming area (And thank you again for that, good sir). I gave [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 the flash drive with the badges on it, whereupon she, with some assistance from [livejournal.com profile] montous and others, began working on creating new badges on our laptop. While she did that, I recruited [livejournal.com profile] junkpcto assist me in unloading my car. We brought the bins in, and F & B helped me unload the contents onto the shelves.

When 2000 hrs rolled around, I led the carnivorous mass of people down the hall to Outback, where we feasted on meat, salad, Bloomin’ Onions and good company until we were sated. On the way back, we made use of the hotel’s business center to print the badges. It amazed me, however, that the computers were set up with a minimal amount of security; I could have loaded damn near anything on them. I’d hate to see what AdAware and/or SpyBot would have cleaned off of them. To make things simpler, I connected their craptacular Dell laser printer to my laptop. After one small adjustment to the size of the blanks, we printed a sufficient quantity, then returned to the gameroom. I did run my one event for Friday night: Scurvy Musketeers of the Spanish Main (Z-Man games). We had a good number of people for it, and had a lot o’ fun. We then did a round of Bushwhackin’ Varmints out of Sergio’s Butte (Z-Man Games). Not too long after this, I crashed for the night.

Saturday: Morning rose, as did I, and I headed out with B. to get Munchkins and coffee. Despite my normal distaste for CharStarbucks, I stopped there because the Pumpkin Spice Latte was back for the season, and it’s pretty much the only reason I’ll go there (other than if I need something when I’m on a road trip). B got Hot Chocolate, and we got some apple juice for F. This particular branch has a drive through – we thought about using it, but realized that it would likely be quicker to go inside. And we were right. No one in line ahead of us, as opposed to 4 cars in the drive through. We then hit Dunkin’ Donuts for bunches of Munchkins, and got back in time for my first event of the day, Munchkin with Munchkins. My 5 player game of Munchkin Bites was honored by the participation of such notables as [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and [livejournal.com profile] junkpc. When the dust cleared and the bodies staked, JunkPC emerged victorious. And it was his first game of Munchkin ever! Muah-ha-ha. The MSD tribe arrived, and I got them set up in their respective spaces. I played some Fluxx, some Grave Robbers From Outer Space, some Carabande.

Eventually, I went to get some KFC for dinner. Unbeknownst to me, they were running a special in which you got an extra 4 pieces of chicken free with any 10 piece or larger bucket. SCORE! I got back and set the mouths of everyone to watering.

KFC will do that.

Even better, because of the sides and extra chicken, we were also able to feed [livejournal.com profile] tth, [livejournal.com profile] aylinn, and [livejournal.com profile] marklrose. More score!

Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 & the kids called it a night, and I went ahead and played a game of Puerto Rico. We did so in the con suite, which was good from a certain point, however, they were showing Hot Fuzz on the TV (which I was facing), and I was a bit out of it, so I didn’t play as well as I might otherwise have. After the game, I sat around talking with folks until mousecat0 called me and asked me to run to CVS for some kids motrin. Which I did, and then called it a night.

Sunday: It took me a while to wake up on Sunday, but I eventually got there. Ran a quick game of Chez Goth, then another round of Munchkin Bites. We needed to call the Czar of All Things Munchkin (aka [livejournal.com profile] pleasantlyevil) for a card interpretation, but when all was said and done, Mrs. JunkPc had won her first game of Munchkin. I played the Shrek 2 boardgame with F, played another boardgame which I don’t recall the name of, and eventually did Munchkin Cthulhu. That was a blast. I was the first to reach L10, but since I was running the event, I saw no need for the fun to end. Rather, I declared myself eaten messily by the Great Old Ones and demanded that they continue. Which they did, resulting in a very frenzied battle for the finish.

Speaking of eating messily, Arby’s was the choice for the dinner menu. Mmm. Roast Beast. AS the night went on, the kids decided they wanted to watch Dr. Who in the ConSuite while [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 & I Joined a bunch o’ people for Shadows over Camelot. I was the traitor, but truth be told, the game did far more damage to us than I did. I failed at the one thing I really wanted to accomplish (Lancelot’s Armor). Feh. We rounded everyone up and called it a night.

Monday: We set about packing our room, as it was the last day. Once it was about 80% together, mousecat0 went for CharStarbucks again, while the kids and I finished up. Made it to the gameroom to run BattleCattle, which was reasonably well received. I then had my usual unpleasant duties of cleaning up, packing up, and getting everyone out on time. When it was all said and done, we headed for TGI Fridays for the Dead Dog dinner.
Afterwards, many hugs were hugged, many goodbyes were said, and we all headed home.

More later. Work almost done now.

Nope; all I did was hang around and kibitz while [livejournal.com profile] mousecat0 did it.
