More randomosity in titling...
For a brief terrifying second, I considered trying to do this post in LOLCat, then realized that before I got halfway through the first paragraph I'd probably be trying to gouge out my brainstem with a titanium spork. You have been spared...
So, hey, how are ya?
Me, I'm not doin' badly. I'm a bit tired, but that's more because I got up earlier than normal to get here early today. So, this might get long, but I'm a bit pressed for time, so a Bullet-List-O'-Doom is going behind the cut.
However, I wanted to take a moment to talk aboutAngel Food Ministries. Especially since there are a number of people who read this who are, for whatever reason, not in the best financial shape right now. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 35 states.
There are no qualifications, minimums, income restrictions, or applications. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
The base package is $30. Here's the October 2009 menu:
The food is good stuff; plus, they have additional specials which can be ordered as well. We've been participating for over a year. We don't get preached at. We don't get looked down on. It's a good way to help make ends meet. Go to the website and check it out.
Hm. I guess that wasn't as long as I was expecting.
Remember: You woke up on the proper side of the grass this morning. By definition, that makes this a good day.
Peas. Out.

- Me: Continuing to do well. Continuing to refrain from massacring the dingbats and dolts who I graciously allow to use my networks and systems. Enjoying the fact that Autumn and Autumn-like weather is upon us. Making occasional forays into WoW and Champions: Online. Y'know, good stuff.
- Family: Also doing well.
mousecat0 is about 90% over the coughing she's been trying to kick. Yeah, it's taking a while, but it took everyone else in her office who got hit with it forever as well. The kids and I have dodged it, fortunately. B. stayed home sick on Tuesday last week when she woke up feverish and squeaky. I stayed home with her, and we finished watching the first season of Supernatural together.
- The week that was: Other than B staying home, it was a quiet week. Saturday had us going up to Frederick to pick up out Angel Food order.
mousecat0 and B. went back up there later for the monthly C&S game. F & I stayed home and vegged. Sunday started off with brunch with my mother-in-law and her twin, then up to
stoooooooo &
ginabeth's place for football. Got to see the Eagles finish off the Chiefs, then watch the Steelers stink up the field against the Bengals. Went home after that.
- This week: Again, not much until Friday. We've got a Cub Scout Pack meeting on Friday night, then on Saturday, we're having the oven repaired. Sunday, we head out to the wilds of WVa to visit, among others,
aynne_witch,
millefailte,
badasher,
evilpassion8 &
kenalepha. Or, I suppose more to the point, we'll be at
aynne_witch &
millefailte's place - anyone else who shows up is cool. ;-)
- Jones Sodas: I have the M:tG sodas in the dining room. I'll have the D&D sodas on Friday. I think I might bring them out to WVa for the tasting... heeheehee 'Zat ok with you folks?
- Gaming: Not much going on except the online version.
- WoW: My main toon (Franush Dwarf Paladin) has gotten his Brewmaster achievement/title. He should achieve the righto represent Stormwind in the Argent Tournament tonight, which will give him all five factions. However, in nearly a week of beating up Coren Direbrew, I've yet to see either of the Brewfest mounts drop. Still got a week to go.
- Champions Online: I recently delved deeply into the character creation system...and am OMG impressed! Absolutely incredible the detail you can go into. And not only the costume and build of your hero, but also powers - you can modify the colors as well as point of origin (eyes, hands, chest, etc). Game play so far has been good, but I'm barely through the first sets of beginner missions.
