So, it's that time of year again, the time of year where we celebrate that most American of modern holidays: The Super Bowl (or, as my World History teacher, Mike Gould, called it, the Hyper Bowl)

Alas, my beloved Philadelphia Eagles will not be playing, but I'll still be watching. All I really hope for is a good game and a handful of humorous and/or innovative commercials. I have to admit, I'd like to see the Arizona Cardinals win it (sorry [livejournal.com profile] junkpc & [livejournal.com profile] ginabeth), as they haven't done so before. Were I a betting man, however, my money would be on the Steelers.

We'll be at home, keeping it low-key. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law may come over, but they will be there more for the company and the food than the game. Which is just fine with me.

But hey, here's a few polls for you to fill out if the mood so strikes you.

I might actually be driving back to DC from Philly for part of the game, depending on how the weekend pans out. Right now I have no plans to watch it with anyone else...it seems rather pointless to me to watch the game by myself when my team isn't even playing.

I'm going to a party, but it has nothing to do with the HyperBowl (I like that term). I'm ignoring the football thing. My husband may watch, but only because there's supposed to be interesting movie previews. He'll ignore the football bits :-P

We will be driving back to DC from the Philly area - after the post holiday checking up on my folks on Sat.

I don't watch - so food FOR the SB are not relevant - but I chose Pizza (my fav & Steak - served to me at a restaurant that does NOT have TV).

Who do I WANT to win - well The Eagles! - but mostly for my Dad - so - yeah I'm pulling for them to make a surprise appearance and sweep everyone off the field.

not watching and Nachos go with WoW - hehehehehe

and the Steelers - well, even I've heard of them - I've never heard of the Cardinals - even in passing on the radio - Cardinals FTEL (For The Epic Loss)

I'd like for the Cardinals to win, for the same reason you gave, but I don't think they will. My husband, a lifelong Phoenix resident, says they've got a talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

We'll be watching the game at a combination several-birthdays-and-superbowl-party thing at his parents' house.

I'll be cleaning the home office on Sunday, but I'll have my computer monitoring the game. I, too, am rooting for the Cardinals because they are the oldest team in the NFL, and they've never been to the Superbowl, let alone win it. The Steelers have won five out of six trips to the Hyperbowl (love that name). Plus, the Cardinals have a guardian angel by the name of Tilman rooting for them.

If my husband was home, he'd probably make his Superbowl Chili, which includes chirizo (spicy Mexican sausage). Hot stuff! (both chili and husband); Since I'm home alone, I'll just make a plate of Nachos, or I may go for some Fritos with French onion dip.

Enjoy!

Didn't this thing used to happen in January?

Meh. At least I've heard of the Steelers.

"So, what will you be doing on SuperBowl Sunday?"

Recording it so I can watch the commercials at my leisure.
Also, there's a con this weekend, though I'll probabaly only be going on Sat since I haven't pre-reged.
(Conflikt)

Not sure what else I'll be doing Sun.

And I'm only rooting for the Steelers 'cause I heard statistics claiming that when they win, the stock market goes up.

(Otherwise I'd be cheering against them, 'cause I'm still bummed about the Seahawks game...)
